Drone repair for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and volunteers

Over the past few years, Ukrainian units have launched millions of drones into the sky, and it is clear: despite mass production, each board is worth its weight in gold. Every broken frame, every burned ESC or cracked VTX is a minus “eyes” or “fist” on the front line. That is why we at Drongrif have created a separate direction dedicated to the quick and reliable repair of combat UAVs, where the army and volunteers are always first in line.

Who can use the service?

We cooperate with combat brigades, reconnaissance companies, company-tactical groups, volunteer associations and volunteer funds that supply FPV and reconnaissance drones to the front. A separate service window has also been created for mobile workshops that repair UAVs directly in the combat zone. Civilian FPV operators can also apply, but the time and rate depend on the availability of a “military queue”.

What documents/confirmations are required for repairs?

All you need is a single application letter from a military unit or volunteer foundation, indicating the call sign of the contact person and the number of drones. No more paperwork: once we receive the letter, we prioritize the drone, repair it, or immediately exchange it for a working one.

Free drone repair for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: what we do without payment

In 2025, the state has set a course for centralized logistics of spare parts, but there are still many non-critical breakdowns. We have set a limit: we will bear the cost of work that pays off with a social effect.

Free diagnostics and assessment of the drone’s condition

Each military or volunteer board undergoes:

  • initial inspection (instruments, frame, suspension, antennas);
  • testing the power supply on the stand (battery, BEC, XT connectors and typical “guns” for FPV);
  • reading flight logs and firmware.

The results are in a PDF report with photos, videos, and a risk table. Diagnostics will remain free as long as the war continues.

What work can be performed for free (minor repairs, adjustments)

  • Replacement of propellers and screws from our reserve.
  • Controller firmware when the manufacturer has released a critical stability patch.
  • IMU and compass calibration after strong vibrations or drops.
  • Soldering small cables up to 3 cm long.

These operations account for over 40% of applications, and we carried them out for free — this is truly free drone repair for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Repair of FPV drones for the front

FPV is the most common type of attack UAV. However, according to military workshops, most of the boards fail due to ESC overheating and VTX failure after five to seven flights. That is why high-quality repair of FPV drones saves the unit’s budget.

What FPV platforms do we repair?

We specialize exclusively in our own line of FPV drones “Griff” with propeller diameters of 10″, 15″ and 17″:

  • Vrif 10, Vrif 10 PPRCH (Anti-EWB);
  • Grif-T (with thermal imager);
  • Grif-Opto 15;
  • Vulture 15 and Vulture 17 (repeater carrier);
  • Grif-Pro with built-in mini-PC;
  • other drones of our production.
  • We do not accept other brands, including Mavic or Autel, for service.

Restoration after combat damage, replacement of frames, motors, ESC and VTX

The algorithm is worked out:

  • Dismantling of damaged elements and ultrasonic cleaning.
  • Thermal imaging diagnostics of MOSFETs on ESCs and motor control drivers.
  • VTX replacement taking into account the remote control and frequency (25-1,200 mW).
  • Assembly of a new frame (carbon, fiberglass) with anti-vibration struts.
  • Two-day flight testing with combat payload.

It is after such procedures that the phrase “drone FPV repair” ceases to sound like a risk; it is a managed process with a guarantee.

What drones do we repair?

It’s not just FPV kamikazes that need to be repaired. The following are often in the queue:

Reconnaissance drones, FPV kamikazes, quadcopters and other models

  • percussion Grif 10/15/17 with a load of 3-5 kg.
  • Grif-T night vision goggles with thermal imaging.
  • Grif-Opto 15 with fiber optic coils.
  • Grif-Pro with autopilot and cruise control.
  • Each aircraft undergoes the same procedure: inventory, evaluation, repair, and flyovers.

Repair of remotes, charging stations and accessories

  • We service only components of the “Griff” series: ground controls, ERLS stations, 8S3P power boards and 48 V charging stations. Propellers, motors, ESC and VTX are original or proven analogues, compatible specifically with the “Griff”.
  • Often it is the remote control that “lands” the drone on the ground, so we do preventive maintenance and joystick checks “as part of the package” with every repair.

How drones are repaired for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: a step-by-step diagram

Below is pure practice, without bureaucracy or embellishments.

Drone reception, diagnostics and estimate approval

  • Online form on drongrif.com or call support.
  • Photo/video of damage and description of symptoms.
  • Receiving the drone by Nova Poshta or courier.
  • Complete diagnosis ≤24 hours.
  • Approval of the estimate (SMS + Google Doc) by the commander or volunteer.

Repairing drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is our priority, so the estimate remains fixed.

Repairs, test flights and preparation for return to the front

The standard time for a work operation is one hour. At the end of the day, the engineer shoots a video of the flyover, enters the results into the #Jira Card, and marks it “Front-Ready.”

Sending drones for repair by Nova Poshta from all over Ukraine

How to properly pack a drone for shipping

  • Disconnect the battery, seal the contacts with electrical tape.
  • Remove the propellers; place them in a ZIP bag.
  • Secure the frame with polyurethane foam or bubble wrap.
  • Add a checklist: serial number, sender’s name, phone number, and call sign.

Thus, 98% of parcels arrive without new damage.

Address, branch and estimated delivery times

We coordinate the shipment directly with the unit: we agree in a convenient form, the fighters send the parcel via Nova Poshta to our service department. For our part, we guarantee the return of the repaired board by the same service in the shortest possible time.

Why we are trusted to repair military drones

Experience working with military units and volunteer foundations

During the full-scale war, hundreds of “Griffins” passed through our workshop. Approximately, about five hundred aircraft, but we keep records not for statistics, but so that each drone can return to work.

These are not statistics “from the ceiling”: each board has a QR card with the date and unit.

Original/quality components and repair warranty

We use exclusively our own proven components: CarbonForm for Grif carbon frames, X-series motors, 80–100 A ESC, ERLS telemetry. We provide a 30 calendar day warranty or 10 flights for all work, whichever comes first. In wartime, this is enough to detect hidden defects.

Payment, reporting and support of departments

Payment options

  • Non-cash transfer to the account of DroneGrif Service LLC (including VAT).
  • Payment through partner charitable foundations with an official invoice.

We do not accept cash or cryptocurrencies – everything is done officially.

How to get a certificate/report for volunteers or units

After confirming the payment, the accountant generates:

  • Certificate of work performed (PDF and paper original).
  • A “was/is” photo table for the foundation’s social media.
  • “Front-Ready” certificate with QR link to video of test flights.

This way, the unit reports to sponsors, and volunteers receive a transparent history of expenses.

Frequently asked questions

  • How long does it take to repair drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

    Average time is 72 hours from receipt to shipment. Critical repairs (ESC or VTX replacement) can be completed within 24 hours if the part is in stock.

  • Is it possible to completely free repair of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

    Yes. We have already mentioned about free drone repair for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the case of minor work. When the damage is limited to the propeller, firmware, or minor soldering, the service does not issue an invoice.

  • What to do if the drone is beyond repair?

    We issue an official “Not subject to restoration” conclusion and, if desired, dispose of the hull. We return individual working components as a “donor” for another unit board.
